Santino joined the Waterstone team in May of last year. Originally from New York, he has lived in Greenville for three years now and worked in customer service for the past ten years. He was beyond excited for the opportunity presented by Waterstone on Augusta. Changing to a new field of work is always nerve racking, but he has loved every minute and respects our residents so much. He says that working with a community as exciting as Waterstone fills him with constant joy. He now knows his purpose in life and wants to continue making a difference in others’ lives.
Santino had this to say about working at Waterstone on Augusta: “I’ve had the pleasure to work with amazing leadership and learn a lot about holistic wellness. I feel it’s most important to have balance in one’s life, no matter the age. Focusing on the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of our residents’ well-being. I specialize in holistic wellness and create many opportunities to engage and promote the full wellness umbrella. What’s most important to me is being creative and engaging. My passion to serve seniors comes from the relationship I have with my grandmother, whose journey with Alzheimer’s has just begun. Learning about Alzheimer’s has given me more understanding and opened my eyes. I want to give that knowledge and attention to our community.”

She has been in the healthcare field for over 20 years and over 10 of them as a nurse. Taking care and providing our seniors the best last years is her main goal. It is an honor and privilege to hold their hand and listen to the amazing stories of our residents lives.

Chef McAlister spent his childhood watching his mother and grandmothers cook. After high school, he started his own barbecue catering business, Professor’s BBQ, to help fund his college education. Twenty-six years later, Chef McAlister is still serving up favorites as owner and pitmaster.
Chef McAlister took a nontraditional route to becoming a chef, first teaching high school and college- level chemistry and physics. Ten years ago, he decided it was time for a career change and entered the field of Food and Beverage Director in assisted living. For his prior company, Chef McAlister was quickly recognized as not only an innovative chef, but a proven leader. He was asked to teach a culinary arts mini-session at Sysco Columbia as well as being called upon to be the special events chef traveling throughout South Carolina spearheading several events of up to four thousand people. Chef McAlister is excited to bring his love of the elderly and food to Waterstone on Augusta and intends to change morale through food.
He is looking forward to interacting and ‘having fun’ with the residents as while serious about his job, he realizes the importance of a positive and cheerful atmosphere for all.
“I truly love what I do and creating food our residents will enjoy is what it’s all about.” -Chef McAlister
