None of these crafts are too tricky, and they’re all bound to get you in that Christmas spirit. Plus, they would make great gifts for your friends and family!

Christmas Crafts for Seniors

Homemade Christmas Cards

Let’s start with a practical idea! Anyone can create a Christmas card, and you don’t need much to do it. Some sort of paper and writing supplies (pens, markers, crayons, etc.) are the only true necessities. Fold your paper in half and get designing! You could glue items to the paper (construction paper, sequins, glitter) or simply draw. Afterward, be sure to write a heartfelt message and send it to one of your nearest and dearest friends.

Paper Snowflakes

Another tried-and-true craft idea that requires very little in the way of tools (just paper and scissors), paper snowflakes allow you to flex your creativity. As this Martha Stewart tutorial explains, you simply need to fold the paper into a triangle (follow the directions on this part!) and trim the ends. Then, you can experiment and create all sorts of different designs by cutting into the triangle shape. Remember: No two snowflakes are exactly alike! This is a great activity to do with friends because when you’re finished, you can hang all of your unique snowflakes up on a wall, window, or door.

Pipe-Cleaner Snowflakes

While we’re on the subject of snowflakes, maybe you’d like to spice up your paper snowflake display by adding some pipe-cleaner snowflakes. To get started, you just need some pipe cleaners and wire cutters. Follow this tutorial from Martha Stewart to cut your pipe-cleaner pieces to the proper sizes. Then, twist them together to create adorable, fuzzy snowflakes.

Salt Dough Ornaments

Did you ever play with salt dough as a kid? Bring back this classic craft this Christmas. Simply combine 4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup salt, and 1.5 cups warm water in a mixing bowl and knead until the dough is smooth. Then, roll it out and cut out shapes using cookie cutters or a butter knife. Be sure to poke a hole in the top of each ornament with a straw so that it can be hung up! After that, bake the shapes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit and allow them to cool completely. You can paint the ornaments or leave them beautifully white.

DIY Wreath

Step up your wreath game this year! Craft stores supply a variety of hoops and rings, which you can use for your base. Then, decide what you’d like to use to decorate the wreath. For example, you could cover the wreath in vintage baubles, wrap it in tinsel, coat it with yarn pom-poms, festoon it with bows, or go classic with greenery. The options are truly endless! Whatever you decide, be sure to attach the items to your wreath securely. Then, hang it somewhere where it can be admired.
